Can you believe it was one year ago today that Riley Anne came into our lives? I can not!

How could that beautiful smiling baby have already grown up so much in so short of time?!!? It seems like yesterday we were still getting up for night feedings and she fit perfectly in her little bassinet of the pack and play. Now she’s way too big for it, let alone I wouldn’t dare leave her in it because the monkey would climb out.
That little tiny baby, with the tiny fingers and even tinier toes– feet so small that newborn booties fell off with no help at all, spent the weekend crawling all over and after her big cousins. She pulls up, she sits down, she moves moves moves around and loves to play on her toy piano. Belle is still her BFF, and she’s also come to love the Fisher Price Little People. For her birthday, she received the FP LP Dollhouse and she has had a lot of fun playing with it.
Mark’s mom and dad and nieces came down for the big 1, and they got to meet my mom as she got to come over for a little while as well. We had Princess cake and Riley had her own cake. Again, best baby in the world because she just really didn’t get into destroying the cake- she had more on her dress I think from wiping her hands off than anywhere else. Yes, there are pictures and video, I’ll let Mark get those up on Flickr as soon as he can.
I’ve been in a bit of a stupor today– my baby, my sweet little girl is growing up so much – she’s changed already so much from a year ago but I see the bits of her personality that have blossomed and grown- she is the best little girl and her daddy and I are so proud of her and all the things she can do. We’re grateful she is healthy and happy and could not ask for more- and quite surprised at what we have received.
Now, off to get some sleep for mom and dad, and to turn on some sort of random beeping noise to remind dad of that first night in the hospital. Okay, maybe I’ll just tease him about it instead because I don’t want to go through that again either!
